Client Spotlight: Transformation Kitchen™

This month, we are excited to shine the spotlight on HR-4U and their Transformation Kitchen Program, a nonprofit that proves what’s possible when compassion and structure come together.
Founded by Chason Forehand, Transformation Kitchen’s mission is simple but powerful: to break cycles of poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity by helping people build stable, fulfilling careers and rediscover their own potential.
A Story of Second Chances
Transformation Kitchen was born from one man’s decision to turn pain into purpose. Founder Chason Forehand knows what it means to lose everything.
“I’m a person that was abused as a child, fell into drugs, and was forcibly removed and incarcerated during college. I had a chef pay it forward to me, actually see me for my potential and help me get clean, so now I pay it forward to others.”
That single act of compassion became the heartbeat of Transformation Kitchen. Today, the organization helps break cycles of poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity by offering skills training, resources, mental wellness checks and living-wage career paths to marginalized communities.
“We want people to thrive, not survive,” Chason said.
A Place Where People Find Belief Again
The work that happens inside Transformation Kitchen reaches far beyond job training. It offers a sense of confidence and purpose to individuals who have faced barriers that might have otherwise kept them from finding stability and hope.
“People with barriers to employment benefit from our work,” Chason explained. “We’ve seen them thrive because we’ve created opportunities for them to do so.”
Each kitchen reflects the community it serves, adapting to local needs while staying rooted in one shared goal: economic development and empowerment through opportunity.
The first New York location opens this November, with 20 more planned for 2026, including two in the New York area.
That growth extends far beyond the city limits. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Club in Newburgh, Transformation Kitchen teaches culinary and life skills to youth aged 9–13 and 14–17 . The goal is to help young people build confidence, develop healthy relationships with food, and discover opportunities beyond what the streets offer.
Next, through a collaboration with Rayo de Sol Nicaragua, they’re also launching Cocina de Transformación™️, building a physical kitchen and curriculum to teach vital cooking and business skills that empower communities to eat well and create sustainable income in economically challenged regions.
A Partnership Built on Shared Values
As Transformation Kitchen began to grow, Chason knew they needed a financial partner who would treat their mission with the same care and dedication they give their people.
“Someone in my network introduced us to Rose,” Chason said. “We were looking for someone who believed in what we do and could help us grow responsibly. After speaking to Rose, I knew we wanted to work with her. Her heart for service to the community is incredible.”
Before connecting with Rose Knows Bookkeeping, Chason had worked with firms that made him feel unseen. They were just another client on a long list. “We were not a priority,” he said. “Rose treats us like we are.”
With Rose’s help, Transformation Kitchen found something invaluable: peace of mind.
“It takes a load off my shoulders,” Chason said. “Rose has shown us ways to use QuickBooks Online better and helped us structure our reports to reflect who we truly are. That professionalism helps us attract board members and partners who see the vision.”
“With Rose guiding us, we can see real pictures of what we’re doing well and where we can grow,” he shared.
That financial clarity helps Transformation Kitchen make decisions from a place of strength, creating a ripple effect that multiplies across the community.

Growth That Nourishes Communities
Chason’s dream is simple: to keep paying it forward.
As Transformation Kitchen expands into new communities, each kitchen will carry the same spirit of hope, second chances, and the belief that every person deserves a shot at thriving.
